Native Bands Look for
Links to Ancient Traveller The headless body of Kwaday Dan Sinchi, or "Long Ago Man Found", was discovered by sheep hunters in 1999. It had become uncovered at the foot of a melting glacier in Tatshenshini-Alsek Park near the British Columbia - Yukon border in Canada.
Hunting tools, a hat, a robe and even food (a pouch of dried salmon was in the robe) were found near the body that had remained frozen for over 500 years ( Pictures ). The hat and robe are dated between the years 1415 and 1445 - before Columbus even arrived in North America.
Most of the frozen body was well preserved. It was found in an area shared by Canadian and Alaskan native tribes.
Researchers hope that drops of blood taken from more than 50 Alaskan natives for DNA testing will help determine if there are any links between the native tribes and the ancient man.
