Can you eat popcorn with mittens?

The snow drive-in provided a screen for the Eighth Sami Film Festival in Kautokeino - about 450 km / 280 miles above the Arctic Circle. Films about Sami and other indigenous peoples were shown.

For most, snowmobiles have long replaced reindeer sleighs as the main method of transportation during the hard winters, so you only had to park your snowmobile and enjoy the show. People without snowmobiles found seating in the amphitheatre to watch the movies on the 3 x 6 meter / 10 x 20 ft. icy screen (and I suppose if anybody brought their sleigh, they would probably have found a parking space).

The temperature was, naturally, well below freezing, so the seats were covered with reindeer skins for warmth. There were also Sami Lavvo tents to go to warm up or to buy traditional "drive-in" snacks - much of which was made with reindeer meat. There was not much demand for ice cream.
